The undergraduate admissions selection process for the Cornell Class of 2017 was completed on March 28, 2013, the official mail date for the Ivy League.

Of note:

  • Cornell received 40,006 applications for freshman admission, an increase of 5.8% over last year's mail date total of 37,812 applications. The 2013 application figure represents a 9.9% increase over the 2011 applicant count as well.
  • The overall admit rate (Early Decision and Regular Decision) was 15.2%, more selective than the 2012 mail date admit rate of 16.2%.
  • A total of 6,062 applicants were admitted; 1,247 were admitted Early Decision and 4,815 were admitted Regular Decision.
  • In newly collected data this year, first-generation applicants represent 11% of the admit pool.
  • 3,146 students were offered a place on the waitlist, compared to 3,120 last year.
  • 28,477 students were denied admission. Last year, 26,439 students were denied admission.
