Cornell's Commitment to Diversity

Diversity Policies at Cornell

Diversity Policies

Cornell University is committed to being an equal opportunity employer and educator, as reflected in the university's Equal Employment and Education Policy. To carry out its commitment, the university has established a procedure for individuals who feel they have experienced discrimination, including harassment based on an aspect of diversity protected by law. Policy 6.4, Prohibited Discrimination and Protected Status (Including Sexual) Harassment, outlines the university's commitment to equal employment and education and the procedures supporting this commitment. Individuals interested in obtaining information or pursuing a complaint should contact the Office of Workforce Diversity, Equity and Life Quality for assistance.

In addition to a commitment to equal opportunity, Cornell University also has a commitment to affirmative action: President's Statement on Affirmative Action (PDF). Consistent with federal regulations, the university annually develops an Affirmative Action and Workforce Inclusion Plan.

The university has also established a bias response protocol to address those situations that do not rise to the level of discrimination but nevertheless impact the university's commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.
