Cornell's Commitment to Diversity

Funding

The following funding opportunities are intended to further our efforts at creating a richer and more diverse community on campus.

  1. The Provost's Academic Diversity Postdoctoral Program seeks to increase the number of scholars who will contribute to academic diversity and excellence at Cornell University and in American higher education by providing a two-year research, teaching, and mentoring experience.
  2. The Diversity Graduate Fellowships are designed to increase the diversity of Cornell's graduate student population.
  3. The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship aims to encourage underrepresented minorities and other U. S. citizens and permanent residents who are committed to eradicating racial disparities to develop their academic interests to the fullest and to pursue doctoral degrees.
  4. The NSF ADVANCE Program aims to increase the recruitment, retention, and promotion into leadership positions of women in engineering and the sciences, and to institutionalize best practices, policies and programs across colleges as they pertain to women faculty. Over the five year life of the ADVANCE grant, we intend to achieve 20% women faculty in each science and engineering department. Support for women researchers through the Research Initiative Awards is a part of the ADVANCE program.
  5. The James A Perkins Prize for Interracial Understanding and Harmony recognizes the Cornell student, faculty, staff member, or program making the most significant contribution to furthering the ideal of university community while respecting the values of racial diversity.
  6. The Constance H. and Alice E. Cook Awards honor individuals for their commitment to women's issues and for improving the climate for women at Cornell.
  7. The Minority Finance Commission (OMEA/COSEP) is responsible for supplementing funds to undergraduate minority student organizations registered with OMEA.
