Hari the Comic
QUEENS, NEW YORK-BASED SOUTH ASIAN AMERICAN STAND-UP COMEDIAN, HARI KONDABOLU COMES TO CORNELL. USING THE ART OF ENTERTAINMENT, HARI MANAGES TO SKILLFULLY INCORPORATE IDENTITY AND U.S. RACIAL POLITICS INTO HIS HYSTERICAL MUST-SEE PERFORMANCE.
A graduate from the London School of Economics (masters degree in human rights), Kondabolu has performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Comedy Central's Live at Gotham and was featured in the 2007 HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. Additionally, his short film MANOJ, which he wrote, starred in, and co-produced with director Zia Mohajerjasbi, was selected to play at the 2008 Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and was a Finalist in the 2007-2008 Boston Motion Picture Awards.
This event is FREE, thanks to the co-sponsorship by Asian American Studies Program; Asian|Asian American Center; Community Center Programs - CCP; the Social Justice Advocates and Society for India.
APAA has been at the forefront of Asian American activism and advocacy at Cornell. This group seeks to develop an educational forum promoting discourse on socio-political issues affecting the Asian American community. Its mission is to further Asian American awareness on campus and to politically empower Asian American students. APAA also finds ways to build coalitions with other students of color and social justice groups on campus in order to create a more unified front. Meetings are generally on Mondays at 5pm - Rockefeller Hall 4th FL Conference Room. For more info about the event or the student group, contact ttn23.
