C. Morton Bishop III

C. MORTON BISHOP III (BS '74 Cornell) is president of Pendleton Woolen Mills of Portland, Oregon. The company, six generations old, is a family apparel textile manufacturing, marketing, and retailing business. From 1977 to 1998, Mr. Bishop was division manager at Pendleton. Prior to joining Pendleton, he held positions at Bloomingdales and Lord and Taylor.

Mr. Bishop began serving as an alumni-elected trustee in 2002. He is the co vice chairman of the Student Life Committee and is a member of the Alumni Affairs and Development (2002- ) and Finance (2004- ) Committees. Mr. Bishop also serves on the Alumni Affairs Steering Committee (vice chairman 2004-05). Mr. Bishop served on the Audit (2002-04) and the Academic Affairs and Campus Life (2002-05) Committees and the Trustee Task Force on Athletics (2003-05).

Mr. Bishop has served three terms as a member of the Cornell University Council. He is scholarship chair and former president of the Cornell Club of Oregon, a member and former chair of the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN), and a former member of the Entrepreneurship and Personal Enterprise Program, and he presently serves on the Undergraduate Business Advisory Council. Mr. Bishop served as co-chair for the Class of 1974's 20th Reunion. He has served as a director of the Sigma Chi Alumni Association for more than twenty years.

In addition to his Cornell activities, Mr. Bishop is a trustee of Willamette University and a former trustee and chair of the Nature Conservancy, Oregon Chapter.
