JOSHUA D. KATCHER (A&S '06 Cornell) was elected by the student body to serve a two-year term on the Board of Trustees beginning July 1, 2004. Mr. Katcher serves as a member of the board's Student Life, Buildings and Properties, Alumni Affairs and Development, Trustee-Community Communications, and Alumni Affairs Steering Committees.

Mr. Katcher is double majoring in government and asian studies, with a concentration in law and society. He has served on the executive board of his fraternity, Sigma Pi, and remains an active member in the Greek community. During the summer of 2003 he participated in the Japan-American Student Conference where he delivered a speech, in Japanese, on the topic of American and Japanese civic education. Recently he chaired a review of the student fees, an administration-sponsored committee aimed at responding to growing student concerns about "nickel and diming" at Cornell. He is a former member of the Student Assembly and University Assembly and now serves as the director of elections for student governance. After graduation, he hopes to attend law school.
