Jan Rock Zubrow
JAN ROCK ZUBROW (AB '77 Cornell; MBA '81 Harvard) is founder and president of MedCapital, LLC, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage health and life sciences companies. MedCapital's portfolio consists of companies that manufacture medical devices, produce diagnostic and therapeutic products, and deliver health information services. Prior to starting MedCapital in 1998, Ms. Zubrow was a vice president at Johnson & Johnson and was responsible for J&J's Women's Health franchise.
Ms. Zubrow became an alumni-elected trustee in 1998 and was re-elected by the Board of Trustees for a second term beginning in 2002. She serves as co-chair of Cornell's Capital Campaign, co-chairs the board's Alumni Affairs and Development Committee, and is also a member of the Academic Affairs, Board Membership, and Executive Committees. In addition, Ms. Zubrow sits on the Alumni Affairs and Development Steering Committees, the Trustee Task Force on Athletics, and the Athletic Advisory Council. Ms. Zubrow is a founding member of the President's Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) and served as chair of PCCW from 1997 to 1999. She recently served on the Presidential Search Committee that selected Cornell's 11th president. She has also been a member of the Cornell University Council since 1995 and served on its Administrative Board.
Ms. Zubrow has been named among Cornell's Foremost Benefactors. In 2001, she endowed the position of head coach of softball. Previously, she established the Jan and Barry Zubrow Scholarship fund and provided a lead gift to the PCCW Leadership Fund.
In addition to her Cornell activities, Ms. Zubrow is a trustee of the Far Hills Country Day School and a member of the Dean's Board of Advisors at the Harvard Business School.
