Search for West Campus House Professor and Dean
The search for the next Alice Cook House Professor-Dean is underway. Alice Cook House was established in 2004 with Professor Ross Brann as its first House Professor-Dean. After six years of establishing a new way of residential life at Cornell, Ross Brann is stepping down as Alice Cook House Professor-Dean. In addition to Alice Cook House, the West Campus House System includes Carl Becker House, Hans Bethe House, William Keeton House, and Flora Rose House which is opening programmatically in August 2009.

The goal of the West Campus House System is to create an environment that more closely links the residential life of students to the academic mission of the university. The development of a new residential model with faculty leadership at its core has been an important part of the west campus residential initiative.
Each of the West Campus Houses, named after legendary Cornell faculty members, is a community of approximately 350 upper-class students. Pivotal to the intellectual and social leadership of each House is the House Professor and Dean (PDF), who lives in the house with her or his family. Some 30 House Fellows (PDF), principally faculty members, also function as non-resident active participants interacting with resident students and helping to develop House life.
