Search for Vice President for Budget and Planning
About the Search Process
The Vice President for Budget and Planning search plan will begin with assessing position responsibilities and will move toward effectively marketing the position nationally in a manner that will attract a diverse, highly talented pool of candidates for this critical role. The search will encompass several phases, including the following:
- An executive search firm and search committee will be engaged to assist in identifying a top quality pool of candidates.
- The search firm and the search committee will assess the credentials of prospective candidates.
- Promising candidates will be invited for a confidential interview.
- In order to ensure developing a strong pool of candidates, the work of the committee and the identity of potential candidates will be strictly confidential at this phase.
- Search committee members have signed a confidentiality agreement to reinforce the level of confidentiality expected.
- The search committee will recommend finalists to be invited to campus for a series of interviews with various university-wide constituents. This phase becomes more open.
- The final stages of the search process will again be strictly confidential. Based upon input from the constituents who met with the finalists and its own assessments, the search committee will present a recommendation to the Provost.
- In consultation with the President, the next Vice President for Budget and Planning will be selected.
- References and credentials will be checked prior to extending an offer.
- The selection will be announced to the Cornell community, the search will conclude, and the transition of the new Vice President for Budget and Planning will begin.
