Search for Vice President for Budget and Planning

Search update - May 11, 2009

This update is to advise you that the Vice President for Budget and Planning search has begun. The search committee, which I will chair, was recently convened. Committee members include:

  • Stephen Cohen, Associate Provost/Executive Vice Dean for Weill Medical College
  • Joanne DeStefano, Vice President for Financial Affairs and Chief Financial Officer
  • David Harris, Deputy Provost
  • Michael Kotlikoff, Austin O. Hooey Academic Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine
  • Mary Opperman, Vice President for Human Resources
  • Jane Pedersen, Associate Dean for Administration for the College of Arts and Sciences

Brill Neumann Associates, an executive search firm, has been engaged to manage the search and provide their expertise throughout the search process. In addition, Donna-Marie Parker, Senior Human Resource Consultant for Human Resource Services, will assist with the search processes. We plan to move the search forward as quickly as possible as we identify candidates for this critical leadership role. In order to ensure a strong pool of potential candidates, confidentiality during certain parts of the process is important.

The search will be national in scope. Candidates will meet with the search committee and the search committee will then recommend finalists to be invited to campus for a series of interviews with various university-wide groups. Based upon input from these groups and its own assessments, the search committee will assist me in evaluating final candidates. Once we have completed our work and a top candidate has emerged, I will, after consultation with the president, make a final decision. The search committee members will serve as advisors in this process.
