Administrative Streamlining Program
The administrative streamlining program was initiated, in part, in response to a major campus strategic planning effort called Reimagining Cornell. The effort was designed to examine ways to create a more lean university while retaining academic excellence. In the administrative and service arena, under the leadership of President Skorton and Provost Fuchs, the campus community worked with consultants to identify cost saving opportunities and management strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of support operations and services across the university. The opportunities and strategies identified during a fifteen-month assessment period are expected to provide more effective service delivery to reduce operating costs by an estimated $75 - $85 million annually by fiscal year 2015.
A program office was created in the Division of Planning and Budget to guide the Cornell community through the implementation of these major initiatives. The office has taken on the name "Administrative Streamlining Program" (ASP) office. The ASP office will provide updates to the campus community on Cornell's progress in reaching the stated goals. Along with a steering committee of senior leaders, the ASP office will track the implementation of these changes across campus by working with the initiative sponsors and managers.
