Cornell boasts more than 100 interdisciplinary research organizations, bringing faculty and students together from across the university to pursue research, teaching, and outreach on broad scholarly and social topics. Their work is aligned with national and global needs, providing direct benefits to individuals, groups, and the public good.

Cornell has two national research centers, Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) and Cornell NanoScale Facility (CNF), that serve broad national and international scientific communities; they reflect a partnership of academia, government, and industry.
