Humanities at the Core of Research

Cornell has a rich tradition of scholarship and research in the humanities. The Society for the Humanities was established 40 years ago to advance interdisciplinary research. The humanities encompass the core disciplines—literature, philosophy, history, art, music—as well as new multidisciplinary areas like American Studies, Ethnic Studies, and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies that have developed in response to social changes and scholarly innovation.
