"MINI-PARKS":
Arnot Forest
A 4.025 acre tract located about 20 miles southwest of
Ithaca between the villages of Newfield, Cayuta, and Van Etten.
The forest may be used for picnicking, hiking, cross-country
skiing, bird watching, nature study, fishing, and hunting.
Van Natta's Dam
A cool retreat in the summer and a good hike in the winter
within the city of Ithaca, located just off Giles Street.
Cascadilla Gorge
A charming "mini" gorge near the center of Ithaca, just four
blocks from State Street at the foot of University Avenue.
Sunset Park
The area was given to the village of Cayuga Heights in the
1920s for a "View Park" to provide one of the best views
of the lake and inlet. Turn right on Wyckoff Road from East
Shore Drive, then turn left on Sunset Park Drive.
Minn's Gardens
Located in front of the Plant Science Building on the Cornell
campus, it is a showcase for hundreds of annuals from the
campus greenhouses. All plants are marked with their
popular and scientific names.
Flat Rock
Located directly across from the entrance to the Cornell
Plantations on Route 392. The broad, flat rocks of Fall
Creek are a popular swimming and wading area, suitable
for young children.
Wildflower Garden
Located in the Cornell Plantations at the junction of
Caldwell Road and Route 392. Wildflowers, labelled for
variety, can be seen on this short walk through the woods.
