University recognition revoked for Delta Kappa Epsilon

Effective immediately, Cornell University recognition is revoked for the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity for a period of no less than three years, as a result of an incident that occurred on August 30-31, 2013, involving underage and excessive alcohol consumption, requiring medical transport. Furthermore, the chapter failed to contact any resource to summon medical assistance and attempted to impede the police in their effort to help.

The fraternity was placed on Provisional Recognition Status in November 2012 for an alcohol-related incident and a history of similar infractions over the past several years. The chapter facility will be closed at the end of the fall semester. The chapter may appeal the decision within 48 hours. In accordance with the recognition policy, no chapter may take advantage of the benefits of recognition — including the recruitment of new members — without university recognition.
