The Schwartz Center for Performing Arts in Collegetown provides a venue for first-time readings of works by student playwrights and two-week runs of Greek classics. The Blackbox Theatre is one of three stages in the center offering opportunities for student actors, directors, and sound and lighting crews to hone their craft while entertaining audiences.

A cadre of resident professionals from New York and Los Angeles mentor their younger counterparts in productions such as Hamlet, The Glass Menagerie, and Company, while visitors have included such luminaries as Jimmy Smits, Tovah Feldshuh, and John Cleese.
