The footbridge, above, connects the north and south shores of Cascadilla Creek, while a larger version spans the gorge at street level, conveying drivers on Stewart Avenue from Cayuga Heights, where many faculty live, to lower Collegetown.
A second bridge, connecting West Avenue (behind the Law School) and Eddy Street in lower Collegetown, was proposed to benefit turn-of-the-century shopkeepers but was never built, due to high cost and the breadth of the gorge at that spot.
