The chapel's exterior has evolved over the years as the chapel was expanded, creating a multitude of quiet nooks sheltered from nearby foot traffic.
Inside, plaques along the walls recall beloved alumni and faculty. One memorializes first geology professor Charles F. Hartt, who died on a Brazilian survey. Another recalls Ross Gilmore Marvin '05, a member of the Peary Polar expedition, who drowned in the Arctic in 1909. On a plaque in the choir loft, a quote from Charlotte's Web honors author E. B. White '21, who sang in the Sage Chapel Choir as a student.
