How You Can Help
Whatever your motivation—to solve a community problem, advance a worthy cause, or to grow as a person—volunteering or donating can make a difference in someone’s life.
Giving
Peggy Beach, director of Campus Information and Visitor Relations, hands out water at the Cornell tent during the 2007 Relay for Life.
Your gift to the "Community Care Fund" is what matters.™ Local volunteers distribute your gift to United Way's member organizations, based on the needs of the community. Combined with other contributions, your gift will make a positive difference in the lives of Tompkins County residents.
If there is a special cause or concern you want to address through United Way, you can allocate part or all of your donation to the agency of your choice. You can also exclude a particular agency. Just indicate your wishes in the spaces provided online or on your pledge card.

Volunteering
To volunteer for United Way or a United Way member organization, call 272-6286 or stop by the United Way office at 313 North Aurora Street, Ithaca.
At Cornell we've divided the University into 25 divisions, each represented by at least one Division Deputy whose responsibilities include thanking individuals who make a pledge and supporting the goal of increased participation. If your division already has a deputy, please contact them to offer assistance. If your division does not have a deputy, please consider volunteering for this extremely important job. To serve the Cornell community as a Division Deputy please contact Cornell's campaign office.
Based on IRS Regulations, donors who make a one-time gift of $250.00 or more (either by cash, check, or credit card), or who give a gift of stock (any amount), will receive a letter from United Way Tompkins County regarding that gift for tax purposes. For gifts less than $250.00, donors should use their cancelled check or payroll stub as verification for tax purposes.
