Bestselling author and child advocacy expert Richard Louv spoke about his groundbreaking book, "Last Child in the Woods," on September 24, 2008 at Cornell's Statler Auditorium. Louv directly links the lack of nature in the lives of today's wired generation--he calls it nature-deficit--to some of the most disturbing childhood trends, such as the rises in obesity, attention disorders, and depression. The event was part of the Cornell Plantations annual Fall Lecture Series.
You can connect with nature at Cornell Plantations, which features an arboretum, botanical garden and 4300 acres of protected natural areas--all free and open to the public every day from dawn to dusk.
