VP Mary Opperman presents an update on proposed actions in the Human Resources and Spans & Layers areas of the Administrative Streamlining Program.
The Human Resources initiative primarily focuses on implementing the new HR/payroll management system (HRMS), the creation on an On-Boarding (OB) center to manage the new hire experience, and consolidation of central shared services.
The Spans & Layers initiative analyzed the Administrative overhead structure. Savings have centered on the concept of reducing "spans and layers". A span is the number of people a manager supervises; a layer is the number of layers between the president and a division's lowest-ranking employee.
