Randy Lacey, Cornell University engineer, talks about green development and describes "smart growth" and building energy efforts that are part of Cornell's Climate Action Plan. As a student at Cornell in the 1970s, he was a member of an Alternative Energy Group that took homemade solar heaters to energy fairs. He discusses the kinds of choices that must be weighed in making decisions about what buildings to build and how to build them.
