Frequently Asked Questions
How can I get my content on CornellCast?
So you get to CornellCast and you're thinking, "I've got video (or audio) that would be perfect for this site." Great! We're interested in content that helps us show the world what's happening here at Cornell. Cornell people, events, research -- you name it -- so tell us what you have in mind. If your content is already available online, be sure to include a link so we can take a look; otherwise, we'll make other arrangements to see it. If the content hits the mark and the picture and sound quality are sufficient, we'll need several versions that meet our specifications for streaming media and downloads (file format, window size, bandwidth, etc). We can create them from your original(s). Alternatively, we're happy to share our specifications so you can create your own CornellCast-compatible files.
Or maybe you know of an upcoming event that you think we should get on tape. Just send us the info for consideration.
Can I include a CornellCast video on my web page or feed?
Sure! You can even use the thumbnail images we've created. But we ask that you not make copies of our files. Instead of putting copies on your server, please simply link to, or reference, ours. Feel free to let us know if you need assistance.
Do I need an iPod to watch or listen to CornellCast content?
While you can certainly use an iPod, MP3 player, or other device, it's not necessary. You can watch or listen on your computer.
Do I have to subscribe?
No, not at all. When you find something you're interested in, just click on the title of the item. On the page that appears, streaming video or audio will load and begin playing automatically. You'll also be able to download the item from the Downloads section.
In case you're wondering, though, the beauty of subscribing is that you'll know when we've added new content without ever having to check the CornellCast page. And, when something catches your eye, you'll be able to watch or listen with a single click.
Let's say I want to subscribe. What do I need?
A computer with an Internet connection, for starters. Beyond that, you'll need a tool—sometimes called a reader or receiver—to bring CornellCast content to you. Some, like Google homepage or My Yahoo! are browser-based; basically, they're web pages you can customize to include content that matters to you. Others, like iTunes or Juice, are software applications that you download and install on your computer. They typically offer extra features for managing your subscription. Whatever you choose, you'll still need iTunes or a player like QuickTime to play our video and audio content.
When you're ready to subscribe, copy either of the urls below and paste into the tool of your choice:

I'm still having trouble. What now?
Feel free to contact the webmaster. We'll do our best to help.
