SPEAKER: Cornell's Office of the Bursar is the central billing agent for the university. The monthly CASHNet Bursar statement, or eBill, combines charges for two separate accounts-- the Bursar account and the Cornell Card account. The eBill notifications are sent to the students' Cornell email address on the second Friday of every month and are due by the seventh of the following month.
Students are responsible for granting parents or others access to view and pay the monthly bills. The top left portion of the eBill shows the student's name and address. The top right portion of the eBill shows the student's seven digit ID number, the due date, and the amount due.
The Description column shows a list of charges that are being billed for this month. The Charges column shows the amount due for each item billed. The Actual Credits column shows any payments made or financial aid that has been awarded and posted to the account. The Pending Credits column will show any financial aid that has not yet posted to your account. Please ensure the student has completed all of the necessary financial aid materials by the deadline.
Most of the university's charges will appear on the Bursar statement. Tuition, housing, and dining charges are billed by semester. Fall charges are billed in July and due by August 7, and spring charges are billed in December and due January 7.
Here are some examples of the charges that can be added to your Bursar statements throughout the year. Note that these are not all-inclusive. Summer or Winter session tuition, fitness center fees, student health plan or medical charges, printing charges, or library fines.
The Cornell Card is an optional service with an annual fee of $12 and a limit of $950. Enrolling in a Cornell Card account is a service that allows you to make on-campus purchases with your Cornell ID. This can help you manage your day-to-day expenses without having to carry cash. Balances are listed below the Bursar statement and should be paid monthly. It's important that students and parents communicate about how the Cornell Card should be used.
