Sustainability is not only about safeguarding the environment, but also about smarter business and upholding human dignity, says Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
In this April 5, 2012 lecture, "People, Planet and Performance," Fedrizzi talks about buildings from the perspective of their environmental value--taking into account air quality, incoming sunlight, energy consumption and costs.
Fedrizzi's lecture was sponsored by the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis. He spoke as the inaugural speaker for the Beyer Lecture, which is funded by a gift from the Beyer family and focuses on sustainable and environmental issues.
