MARK MINTON: We want to ensure that every member of the veteran community here at Cornell is capable of sharing and expressing themself equally-- whether it be a staff member, faculty member, student, graduate student-- that anybody can propose a function or forum and be heard. We want to make sure that this is a community that is holistic, that we are able to develop together and professionalize the veteran community here at Cornell.
And opening this house for veteran students coming into the Cornell environment, being first-term Cornellians, we believe that 625 University will create this atmosphere where people feel not only included as a veterans' community but as a member of the Cornell community. And being right here on West Campus, being so closely related to everywhere else that the student body associates, we can host events, we can gather with other student groups. We have the space in order to study and grow together. And 625 University allows us to create this veterans resource center and community center that we are so desperately needing here at Cornell.
We want to bring in speakers who are not only military-affiliated but also affiliated with civil service and the world of business. We want to make sure that people are experiencing what they want to move towards in their future endeavors. You know, we want to bring in executives. We want to bring in people who at the world at large are expressing that desire to help the veteran community. And here at Cornell, the administration is backing the veteran community in such a way where we are able to have a space to do that.
