[BARKING] DR. SUSAN HACKNER: The United States has more canine and feline pets than any country in the world. And we feel differently about our pets. People want their members of their family to live better, longer lives. And that's where we come in.
Hi. I'm Dr. Susan Hackner, Chief Medical Officer of Cornell University of Veterinary Specialists. We provide top notch emergency, trauma, and specialty care along with trying to solve some of the most complex medical and surgical problems. Cornell University Veterinary Specialists is the only university affiliated veterinary specialty and emergency center in the tri-state area and one of very few in the country. This is new for veterinary medicine. Our specialties include emergency and critical care, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, and radiology. We are a comprehensive veterinary emergency and specialty facility.
We're here to partner with primary care veterinarians, to partner with pet owners to find the best solutions. Medical excellence and expertise is only part of the solution. But the other part is communication and collaboration. We collaborate with the primary care veterinarian. We collaborate with each other, with faculty at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine to bring the best expertise to the table for every individual patient.
The mission of Cornell University of Veterinary Specialists is to combine the best of academic medicine with the best of private specialty practice to benefit pets, their families, and the profession. It's only been the last decade and two that we've seen these tremendous advancements in veterinary medicine. The innovation and discovery that occurs every day at Cornell University's college of Veterinary Medicine makes us better doctors, gives us better tools to provide better care. And every dollar that we produce feeds back to the college and enables that education and innovation and discovery.
People love their animals. They want them to live long and happy and healthy lives. And when their animals are sick, they're looking for solutions. They want to know a diagnosis, and they want to know what the options are. And we're here to make everything as smooth and as easy as it can possibly be to achieve the best outcome.
