Patrick Somerville is the author of Trouble, a collection of short stories named by Time Out Chicago as 2006's Best Book. His work has appeared in One Story, Epoch, GQ, Esquire, and Best American Nonrequired Reading His first novel, The Cradle (Little, Brown), will be published by in March of 2009, when he will also be serving as the Blattner Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Northwestern University.
Somerville read from his work on Sept. 18, 2008, in Cornell's Goldwin Smith Hall. The event is part of the Creative Writing Program's fall 2008 Reading Series, which features established and emerging artists.
