Who Counts? Counting Workers In The Gig Economy

Posted on August 28, 2017

ILR Associate Professor Louis Hyman is joined by Erica Groshen, former head of the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), 2013-17. The last time the BLS surveyed the "contingent" workforce was in 2005. This year they will do so again. Dr. Groshen will explain why it has been so hard to count workers in this new economy, and what that means for how we think about economic policy. Part of the Future of Work series from NYC.
