The Olin Lecture was established at Cornell in 1987 through a generous gift from the Spencer T. and Ann W. Olin Foundation. This year, we feature Steve Reich '57, one of a handful of living avant-garde composers who can claim to have altered the direction of musical history. The event, part of Cornell Reunion 2017, begins with a performance by Ensemble Signal of two of Steve Reich's original compositions, 'Nagoya Marimbas' and 'Quartet,' followed by a conversation about Reich's performing and composing career.
