Cornell University Summer College offers acclaimed precollege programs for motivated high school students from around the world. Every summer approximately 1,000 students experience college life, earn credits in Cornell courses taught by top-notch faculty, attend admissions workshops, explore academic majors and careers, and make friends from more than 40 countries.

In this video, Femi Cadmus, the Edward Cornell Law Librarian, Eduardo M. Peñalver, the Dean of the Cornell Law School, and students discuss "Foundations in American Law," one of more than 20 programs and 60 Cornell courses offered between June and August.

Designed and taught by lecturers from Cornell Law School, this foundational program introduces students to the American judicial and legislative systems, legal research and technologies, and careers in law. Throughout, students practice traditional analyses of legal concepts as well as problem-solving techniques using the Socratic Method.
