[MUSIC PLAYING] JEREMY STEWART: Hi. My name is Jeremy Stewart, and I am the general nutrition and health outreach educator here with Cornell Wellness. Today, I'm going to be making a basil pesto sauce for you guys. Basil pesto is a great source for putting on chicken, putting on any pasta, sandwiches, or bread. It's very quick, simple, and easy to make as well.
All we're going to need is a high-powered blender or a food processor. Today, we're just going to use a Vitamix. Also, all we're going to have-- all we have in here is 2 cups of fresh basil leaves. Also, we have one garlic clove already minced in the food processor, our Vitamix.
We're also going to add 1/3 of a cup of vegetable stock. Throw that right in. We're also going to use 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Next, we're going to throw in about 1/4 of a cup of sliced almonds. And our last ingredient of the day is going to be about 1/4 of a cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Perfect. And that's all we need.
So once that's done, we're going to put the top onto our food processor, our Vitamix today. All right. So all we're going to do-- make sure that your knob is turned all the way down to one before you start your food processor, if you do have a Vitamix, all right? And we're just going to start after we hit the power button. Great. And then we're just going to blend it nice and slow, and then we'll turn it up.
All right. And we want to blend 'til it's nice and smooth and creamy. All right. And then we'll take it off. And there we have it-- our smooth finish nice basil pesto.
