[MUSIC PLAYING] JEREMY STEWART: Hi, everybody. My name is Jeremy Stewart and I am the general nutrition and health outreach educator here at Cornell Wellness. Today I'm going to be making a simple green smoothie for everyone out there, OK? All we're going to need is a blender and just a few ingredients.
Smoothies are a great way to kick off the morning, and they're a great way to get in the fruit and vegetable count you want for your day. OK, so what we're going to start off with is just a cup of water. We're going to throw our vegetable in, which is going to be our spinach, all right? Then all we're going to do is we're just going to blend it up so it's nice and smooth, and then we're going to add our fruit.
All right, you want to make sure that all the chunks are gone. Beautiful. Now that it's nice and smooth, we're going to add our fruit. OK, so our fruit for the day-- we're just going to add one banana. I'm just going to throw that in here.
And now we're going to add half a cup of mangoes and half a cup of pineapple. Great, then we're going to blend until smooth. You can also turn up the volume if you need to, if it's not blending down to that smooth ingredient that you want. Might just take a little bit longer on low. That looks perfect.
Awesome. And there we have it, our green smoothie. Some other options you can add in there-- if you want to add a little bit of fat and a little bit of protein, you can add some non-fat, plain Greek yogurt. You can also add about a tablespoon of chia seeds, a tablespoon of almond butter. And there you have it, a simple green smoothie.
