Engaged Cornell is a collaborative initiative of the Public Service Center and the Center for Engaged Learning + Research to provide leadership within the university on Public Engagement by bringing together various departments and resources on campus to respond to the pressing needs in our communities.

The presentation provides a specific example of community engaged learning, with highlights from a documentary film being produced by Professor Bruce Levitt and his students. The Phoenix Players Theatre Group (PPTG), an inmate performing arts organization at the Auburn Correctional Facility in New York, sees theatre as an avenue to personal transformation and redemption.

Rebecca Stoltzfus, the first Provost's Fellow for Public Engagement, leads a discussion on what Engaged Cornell means to the university and how we aim to strengthen our community ties.

This event was part of the Trustee Council Weekend 2012 activities.
