Farm Ops is a program of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Cornell Cooperative Extension that sets up New York state veterans for success. Created in 2015 as an initiative of the Cornell Small Farms Program, Farm Ops acts as an information clearinghouse, offering beginner farmers expertise derived in part from Cornell research and connecting them with resources to get the skills they need.
Walter Palmer is one of the veterans Farm Ops has helped. Palmer and his family have a diverse, 145-acre farm in Savona, New York. Palmer served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2001-05 and as a senior airman in the U.S. Air Force from 2005-09.
