In the interest of understanding and creating more dynamic movement across hierarchies, Heeyon Kim conducts ongoing research examining status and perceptions of success. She and her collaborators find that lesser-known works or goods, when placed proximate to high-status ones (either in a storefront, art gallery, or magazine), are perceived to be of better value, with many implications.
