Professor Miguel Gómez focuses on food value chain competitiveness and sustainability, examining food markets between growers and buyers, supermarkets and consumers, suppliers and supermarkets. Currently, Gómez and his collaborators at the Smithsonian Institute are researching the effects of eco-labels on the coffee industry, which are valuable to consumers but can be expensive for growers to obtain.
