Sachin Gupta has been studying Aravind Eye Care services, a successful healthcare organization in India employing a cross-subsidization business model through which patients paying full price subsidize mission-driven free eye care given to the poor. Interestingly, Aravind only markets to its free patients, not to the paying ones, a spillover effect which deserves further examination.
